Has it really been a year since my last post about Jesus (part 1)

Wow...
Has it really been a year since I've written my last post about Jesus? Hmmm can't figure out if it's because

a) I had nothing to write about
b) I had plenty to write about but why bother sharing or writing it on a blog?

I think it has to do with the fact that you never really want to write or share something so personal about your faith without making sure it's stemming from a genuine source of truth. And to be honest, I think when I've stumbled upon many of these 'noteworthy' experiences with God, I'm not sure if I've truly handled them in a Christ-like manner that would be not hypocritical of me to share.

Well, enough of the past. I'm back to sharing today. I'll start off with a poem that I jotted down while trying to battle my restless night; I'll let you rest on it for a few nights before I come back to my post:

They are all idols
Cushions of quick comfort
Empty lockets of security
Disguised masks of healing

Aware that I am of this lie,
I made no attempt to engulf the truth
Trapped in any world but mine
Chased anywhere but here

The unfailing voice called out
I chose to ignore
The staff that guided the lost sheep
I chose to let go

Yet all it took
was one loose chain
among the rusty rings of pride
to break for all knees to come down

While shadows of uncertainty
may forever overcast my white walls
So shall remain my savior
forever it reigns my source of light
